Results have been announced for the 2017 edition of the Make Wellston Beautiful Holiday Decorating Contest! This year, there were 8 business nominations and 14 residential nominations. 962 votes were cast in the business category. 1,136 votes were cast in the residential category.
Third prize for the business contest, $25, was awarded to Station 8 of Jackson County EMS. The entire station is decorated with lights, garland, and more on the outside. Special thanks were given to these first responders who took time out of their busy schedules in order to decorate. Second prize for the business contest, $50, was awarded to Rusted Barn. Their display is a beautiful holiday wonderland with window decorations, lights, a nativity scene, and even Santa’s sleigh on the roof! First place for the business contest, $100, was awarded to Madison’s Garden. This beautiful window scene includes a Christmas tree and cross display in addition to a depiction of Santa reading to children. Second place for the residential category, $50, was presented to Randy and Kendra Sims. Their display at 516 East A Street features Snoopy in an airplane along a lighted runway in addition to many more lights on the house and grounds.
