Lindsay’s Law: Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth Athletes

What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?

A Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) occurs when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, cutting off blood flow to the brain and other vital organs.  Sudden cardiac arrest is fatal if not treated immediately, most often by a defibrillator.

Who is Lindsay?

Senate Bill 252 is named for national heart health advocate and former Miss Ohio Lindsay Davis who suffers from a heart condition and has since dedicated her career to raising awareness of this potentially fatal condition.

“Sudden cardiac arrest is the number one killer of student athletes,” said Davis. “At any moment I could have died because coaches and teachers had no idea this was even a possibility for someone who looked as healthy as I did at that age.”

2018 Fall Baseball, Softball, Soccer, and Volleyball Registration

It’s time to sign up for the 2018 Season of Make Wellston Beautiful Fall Sports! This year, we will be offering:

  • Soccer for boys and girls ages 4 years old through 8th grade. In addition to a Spring Soccer program similar to that held last year for children through U12, there will be a U14/Jr. High team for grades 6 through 8. Soccer conditioning dates for the U14 team will be listed on the Wellston Youth Soccer page on Facebook.
  • Volleyball for girls ages 3rd through 6th grade.
  • Fall Baseball – 8U, 10U, and 12U
  • Fall Softball  – 8U, 10U, and 12U

Registration for U14 Soccer is $50. Registration for Soccer, Volleyball, Fall Baseball, and Fall Softball is $30. A discount of $10 will apply for each additional child from the same immediate family, or if the same child is playing multiple sports. We believe that money should not be a barrier to participating in sports. If the registration fee creates a financial hardship for you, it may be waved. Please be aware that this is a $5 increase due to rising costs. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Please make sure to fill out the Registration Form, MWB waiver, and additional sports specific waiver and return them at one of the dates below:

    • Tuesday, August 7th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Route 327 Ball Fields Shelter House
    • Wednesday, August 8th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Route 327 Ball Fields Shelter House
    • Saturday, August 11th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Route 327 Ball Fields Shelter House
      • Saturday, August 11th is the final opportunity to sign up for Make Wellston Beautiful 2018 Fall Volleyball, Baseball, and Softball.

Soccer signups are now closed.

Please fill out all papers included in the file for the sport your child is participating in and return them to a sign up date. Please make checks payable to Make Wellston Beautiful or MWB – P&R. If your child is playing multiple sports, please note that only one copy of the registration form and only one copy of the waiver with the Make Wellston Beautiful letterhead is needed per child.

Thank you for your participation! We are excited about another amazing Fall season!
