Make Wellston Beautiful and the Wellston OHillCo Society will be participating in Ohio Open Doors on Saturday, September 12th from 12 – 3 pm. Brought to you by the Ohio History Connection, Ohio Open Doors is a statewide event when local sponsors open their historic buildings and landmarks to the public for special tours and free programs. Join us in honoring the history, design, and stories of our historic places!
While you’re in town, take advantage of the annual Wellston OHillCo Festival taking place on the streets of Wellston just outside the Depot.
OHillCo Open Doors participating sites:
• The Wellston City Building, 203 E. Broadway, will be open from 12 pm to 3 pm with guided tours led by John Carey, former Wellston Mayor and current Director of the Governor’s Office of Appalachia. Tours will begin at the top of each hour.
• The Depot, 101 N. Railroad Ave., will be open from 12 pm to 3 pm. The Art Show and Quilt, Needlework, and Craft Show will be on display in the meeting rooms.
• The Haslett Mansion and Carriage House, 153 Driving Park Road, will offer two guided tours: one starting at 12 pm and one starting at 1:30 pm. Both tours will start in the Carriage House behind the home and will be guided by members of the Morgan family, who brought the property back to life during a recent renovation.
